How did the Mini-Me collection come about?
Mini-Me grew out of a very concrete situation: the First Communion of the ANNARELLE founder's daughter, Marielle. For that one day, she spent weeks searching for real, lasting jewellery that she and her daughter could wear together - and found nothing that met her standards of quality and honesty. So she designed it herself.
The founder is a GIA-trained diamond expert and previously worked as a management consultant and in a senior role at ProSieben Sat.1 before founding ANNARELLE. With this background, ANNARELLE positions Mini-Me as the first diamond jewellery collection consistently conceived for mother and child together, not as an adult line shrunk down after the fact. Is real diamond jewellery suitable for children?
Yes, if the material and craftsmanship are made for children, as with Mini-Me. All child pieces are made of 14 karat solid gold, tested by DEKRA, free of harmful additives. The lab-grown diamonds used are chemically and physically identical to natural diamonds and come with an IGI certificate from 0.5 carat.
The difference from much of what is otherwise sold as "children's jewellery" lies in the material: instead of gold-plated alloys or unclear compositions, Mini-Me uses the same tested gold as the adult line, just in smaller, child-appropriate forms. ANNARELLE recommends Mini-Me jewellery from around age 6. At this age, children are usually old enough to wear ear studs, pendants or necklaces independently and consciously, and the collection's child-friendly proportions, such as shorter chain lengths, suit necks and ears at this age better than adult sizes.
The age recommendation is a guideline, not a fixed rule: parents know their child and the right occasion best - First Communion at 8 or 9, for example, or a first piece of jewellery for the first day of school.
