You verify an IGI certificate on the website of the International Gemological Institute: enter the report number and compare the details with your stone. At ANNARELLE, every lab-grown diamond from 0.5 carat comes with an IGI certificate; natural diamonds from 0.5 carat come with a GIA report. The report number is on your invoice after purchase and in your customer account.
A certificate is only worth as much as your ability to check it. That is exactly why we work with IGI: you do not have to take our word for it. You can look it up.
What is an IGI certificate?
The IGI certificate, officially the IGI report, documents the characteristics of a single diamond, independently graded by the International Gemological Institute. It records the 4 Cs: cut, color, clarity and carat weight, plus the shape and measurements of the stone. For laboratory-grown diamonds, the report also states this origin.
What the 4 Cs mean in detail: The 4 Cs Explained.
Step 1: Find the report number
The report number is on your invoice after purchase. You will also find it in your customer account at my.annarelle.com. It belongs to exactly one stone, not to a model and not to a collection.
That is why the product page has no number yet. The "IGI certificate" link there opens the empty IGI verification form. Your number exists only with your stone.
Step 2: Open the IGI verification page
Go to igi.org/Verify-Your-Report. This is the institute's official page. You do not need an account, and it costs nothing.
Step 3: Enter the number
Type the report number into the field and start the search. IGI then shows you the data recorded when your stone was graded.
If no result appears, first check the spelling of the number. If that does not help, write to us through our contact form. We will sort it out with you.
Step 4: Compare the details
Compare the details in the report with your invoice and with your piece. Pay particular attention to these points:
- Shape and carat weight match the stone you ordered.
- For white lab-grown diamonds, color and clarity meet our standard: color D to F, clarity VS or better.
- The cut is not below Very Good. For fancy cuts such as pear or oval, IGI often gives no cut grade; polish and symmetry then show the quality of the cut.
For certified stones, the carat weight on the certificate applies exactly, without tolerance.
What do the details in the report mean?
The IGI report lists the characteristics of your stone in fixed fields. You will find these fields on every report:
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Description | type of stone; for lab-grown diamonds "Laboratory Grown Diamond" |
| Shape and Cutting Style | shape and cutting style, for example Round Brilliant or Pear Brilliant |
| Measurements | dimensions of the stone in millimeters |
| Carat Weight | weight of the stone; one carat equals 0.2 grams |
| Color Grade | color grade on the scale from D to Z; for colored stones a Fancy description |
| Clarity Grade | clarity grade on the scale from FL (Flawless) to I3 |
| Cut Grade | quality of the cut, from Excellent to Poor; often blank for fancy cuts |
| Polish and Symmetry | quality of the polish and evenness of the cut, each from Excellent to Poor |
| Fluorescence | whether and how strongly the stone glows under UV light |
| Inscription(s) | the laser inscription on the stone, usually the report number |
| Comments | remarks, for example on the growth process or a treatment |
You can open an example of an ANNARELLE stone directly at IGI: Report LG770637096. It is a blue lab-grown diamond, pear-shaped, 1.02 carat, color Fancy Vivid Blue, clarity VVS 2, polish Very Good and symmetry Excellent.

What does the report say for colored lab-grown diamonds?
For colored lab-grown diamonds, the report shows how the stone was grown and whether it was treated afterward. The color can form during growth or through a treatment after growth. IGI notes both in the comments.
Our example stone shows this well: according to the report, it was grown by the CVD process, and the comments note indications of post-growth treatment.
For us, that is not a flaw but transparency. Read more about how the colors form in our article on colored lab-grown diamonds.
How do I recognize my stone?
The report number is laser-inscribed on the edge of the stone, known as the girdle. It is legible under a microscope, provided the setting does not cover it.
This connects stone and report beyond doubt: the number on the stone is the same as on your invoice and at IGI.
Why do small stones have no certificate?
Very small stones, such as in a pavé or eternity setting, are not certified individually, as is standard in the industry. With many small stones, the paperwork would cost more than the certainty it gives you.
Our standard still applies to every stone. For pieces with lab-grown diamonds, we buy the small stones in color D to F and clarity VS or better as well. We measure them with our own equipment, and Beatrice personally checks every stone selection.
What if I lose the certificate?
Your certificate cannot get lost, because the report stays available online at IGI. You will always find the number on your invoice and in your customer account. And if in doubt, it is on the stone itself.
Does the certificate help with insurance?
The IGI report documents the characteristics of your stone independently and unambiguously. That helps when you want to insure a piece of jewelry or need to document a claim. Your insurer will tell you which documents they require. Keep the report together with your invoice.
Why IGI, when our founder is GIA-educated?
Beatrice completed her training at the Gemological Institute of America. Her trained eye selects every stone. The certificate comes from IGI, because it grades lab-grown diamonds by the full 4 Cs. Since October 2025, GIA has graded lab-grown diamonds in only two tiers: Premium or Standard. With the IGI report, you can see exactly what quality your stone has.
